I get the “There was an error, please try again” message after install

This error indicates either:

1. That the installed version of Microsoft SQL is not set-up to work with ArbMaker because what Microsoft call the ‘instance’ was not set to ‘SQLExpress’ during the SQL install process; or
2. Two of the Windows Services entries for SQL Server Express are failing to start automatically. The two are “SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS)” and “SQL Server VSS Writer”. This is remedied by going to Control Panel->System and Maintenance->Administrative Tools->Services and scrolling down to the two entries. Right click and take “Properties”. Under the “General” tab set “Startup type:” to ‘Automatic’ and then exit.
